DUE TO A VARIETY OF FACTORS, I HAVE HAD TO RESCHEDULE OUR HAYLING EVENT TO SATURDAY THE 21ST AUGUST, PRIMARILY ON ACCOUNT OF TOO MANY OTHER HAPPENINGS ON THE 14TH/15TH...THIS BEING THE CASE I HOPE MORE OF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE IT.

In keeping with the 'Hayling is Like Hawaii' myth, we would like to extend our warmest aloha to you all in inviting you to our second event of the year, 'The Island Paddler SUP Festival' and look forward to welcoming you to our temperate island paradise........swim wear as depicted in the image below however, will not be tolerated. Thankyou.

Are you planning on travelling south this winter? (If you're not, but know someone who is, make sure they know about this article!). If you are, you're probably starting to make your plans now if you haven't already – especially if you're heading deep south, like all the way to New Zealand. If so, then you're probably not planning on bringing your SUP kit since it's a helluva cost, to say nothing of the hassle. And if, like 90% of visitors to NZ, you're looking at getting yourself a campervan, it's not really practical anyway.

However, you will want to paddleboard if you’re coming to New Zealand. It has over 15000km of coastline, (that's 3000 more than the UK), largely due to an unbelievably twisty-turny coastline, with more creeks and harbours that you can shake a Shaka p'uu at. It's like south Devon on steroids. For cruising and exploring, it's absolute nirvana. And inland there are glacial lakes so blue they hurt your eyes, set in that Lord of the Rings scenery which just blows your mind. That picture on the cover of the Starboard brochure – that's New Zealand. As for the surfing, well – let's just say, it's really rather good. I mean, look at NZ on the map. There's a lot of big open ocean around it. We have some of the best point breaks in the world here. I've had rides of over a mile long on solid overhead lines that just reel off for ever.

As I said, you will want to paddleboard in New Zealand. Here's how you can do it...

Skymonster is having a Standup Paddle Demo on Wednesday evening July 28th 6pm-9pm @ the Lowport Center, Linlithgow Loch, West Lothian, nr Edinburgh.

Starboard are bringing up a full demo fleet of boards and will be giving support and cruises around the Loch. At the recent FEKC Summer Solstice, those who stuck about for the Sunday had a good time trying the Standup Paddle Surfing in Shell Bay. This is a good opportunity to give it a go on an ideal flat water location. Starboard rarely come this far north so i would very much like your support for this event. All you need is a wetsuit or just Bordie's and  T-Shirt. There will be changing facilities in the Lowport Center.

Local international surf champion Ben Skinner, has given his backing to a charity event in Newquay for the second year running.

Kai Lenny, seventeen-year-old Hawaiian, guest of Skindog Surf School and sponsored by Oxbow Surf Wear Company, ripped up the Cornish waves with the locals while offering surfing tips to members of Skindogs surfing school and any other members of the public looking for expert advice and tips. Kai was so moved by Joe's story he has backed the event and taken Joe's banner back to the Island's.
